How You Had Defended Me When Everybody Tore Me Down

Running is a simple activity. You put one foot in front of the other and repeat. I often times get too caught up in the details, planning and plotting for the end result that I lose track of the big picture and I think more about running than actually running.

I have made a massive jump in my mileage over the last few weeks and am starting to feel my fitness again after a few weeks of relative ease. As my mileage picks up I am starting to look to the pre-season races that lead to my first major race of the year the Ultimate XC.

First up I am heading to Orillia, ON to run the Pick Your Poison 50km Trail Race which is RD’d by my good friend Adam Hill. It will no doubt be hilly and should be a good gauge of how my fitness is coming along.

I will follow this race up with a shorter, faster effort at the Kingston 5Peaks race on May 12. RD’d by another good friend Derrick Spafford this race is hilly and run on some awesome trails often reserved for mountain biking so very hard to resist the chance to punch it on those trails.

Not sure after that but I have a few ideas like maybe hitting Sulpher Springs 50km or running some 5Peaks races in the area. Time will tell and we’ll have to see how my body holds up to these races and will make decisions based on that.
